• 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. for drivers under 18: The supervisor must be the permit holder's parent or guardian, unless the permit holder is an emancipated minor.
• Permit holders age 18 or older: The special parent-or-guardian nighttime condition does not apply, but a qualifying supervisor is still required.
• Moving the vehicle in a driveway or parking lot still counts as driving, so the permit conditions still apply.

Phone Rules for Hawaii Instruction Permit Holders Under 18
